A/B Testing for Shopify Plus Beauty Brands

There's a particular kind of meeting that happens at beauty brands every quarter. The CRO team presents a slide showing that changing the "Add to Cart" button from green to orange increased conversion rate by 0.3%. Everyone nods. Nobody asks whether 0.3% on a button color actually moved revenue in a meaningful way.

Meanwhile, the brand is still greeting every visitor with a 15% off popup, running the same checkout flow they've used since launch, and wondering why customer acquisition costs keep climbing.

The problem with A/B testing at most Shopify beauty brands isn't that they're doing it wrong. It's that they're testing the wrong things. Small surface-level changes produce small surface-level results. The tests that actually move the business are the ones that challenge the offer itself.
